Notes

Kostas ZERVOGIANNIS – CHAIRETIS was born in Heraklion, Crete, in 1952.

He studied painting at the Athens School of Fine Arts from 1975 to 1980, under Dimitris Mytaras and Panagiotis Tetsis. His artistic training placed him within the context of contemporary Greek painting, while his Cretan background and cultural environment also played an important role in shaping his visual identity.

Zervogiannis – Chairetis is a Greek painter whose work is associated with figuration, composition and the expressive possibilities of colour and form. His paintings often reveal a concern with structure, balance and the relationship between the human figure, space and painterly surface.

His work is characterised by strong draughtsmanship, careful composition and a personal handling of colour. Through figurative and abstracted forms, he creates compositions that combine observation with a more inward and reflective artistic language.

He has presented his work in solo and group exhibitions, mainly in Crete and Athens. His writings on art and culture have also been published in the Cretan press, reflecting his wider engagement with the artistic and intellectual life of his region. He is a member of the Chamber of Fine Arts of Greece.

Kostas Zervogiannis – Chairetis remains recognised as a contemporary Greek painter whose work forms part of the artistic life of Crete and modern Greek painting.
