Notes
Stavros PARASKEVAS was born in Greece in 1940 and died in 2023.
He was a Greek painter whose work is known through private collections and auction records. His paintings are closely connected with scenes of everyday Greek life, particularly waterfront tavernas, kafenia, fishing boats, small shops and traditional urban or coastal settings.
Paraskevas’s work is characterised by vivid colour, narrative detail and a warm attachment to popular Greek culture. Through familiar subjects such as neighbourhood cafés, tavernas and harbour views, he created compositions that preserve the atmosphere of everyday social life and the visual character of older Greek towns and coastal communities.
His paintings often combine descriptive clarity with a decorative sense of rhythm and colour. The presence of signs, boats, figures, façades and shopfronts gives his work a lively storytelling quality, while his use of acrylic on canvas reflects a direct and accessible painterly approach.
Works by Stavros Paraskevas have appeared in auctions in Greece and Cyprus, where they are valued for their charm, colour and nostalgic depiction of Greek life. He remains recognised as a Greek painter whose work reflects the warmth, character and visual memory of traditional cafés, tavernas and harbour scenes.
