Notes

Petros PAPASAVVA was born in Nicosia in 1953.

He graduated from the Pancyprian Gymnasium in 1972 and, after completing his military service in 1974, entered the School of Agronomists and Mechanical Surveyors of the National Metsovio Polytechnic in Athens, graduating in 1979. During his years in Athens, he took lessons in drawing and watercolour, while later in Cyprus he continued his artistic training in drawing and colour painting at Katy Stephanidou’s Painting Lab in Nicosia from 1992 to 1995.

Papasavva worked overseas for many years, including in Oman, Algeria, Pakistan, Dubai and Bahrain. These experiences had a significant influence on his painting, as many of his works draw inspiration from the landscapes, people and everyday life of the countries in which he lived and worked.

His work is characterised by sensitivity to place, careful observation and a warm approach to colour and atmosphere. Through landscapes, architectural views and scenes of daily life, Papasavva creates compositions that reflect both his Cypriot background and his contact with different cultures and environments.

In 1986, he became a member of the Bahrain Chamber of Fine Arts, and he is also an active member of the Cyprus Chamber of Fine Arts, EKATE. His works have appeared in exhibitions, private collections and auctions in Cyprus.

Petros Papasavva remains recognised as a contemporary Cypriot artist whose painting reflects travel, memory and the visual experience of Cyprus and the wider Mediterranean and Middle Eastern world.
