Notes

Konstantinos PALIAN was born in Cyprus in 1954.

He trained with the painters Tilemachos Kanthos and Andreas Ladomatos, and with the sculptor Ninos Dimitriou. He later studied Architecture at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki from 1972 to 1978. Since 1980, he has taught drawing and painting in various cultural institutions, combining his artistic practice with a long involvement in art education.

Palian is a Cypriot painter and architect whose work reflects a strong interest in memory, tradition, architectural space and the visual culture of earlier periods. His paintings often depict courtyards, houses, interiors, architectural details, flowers and quiet domestic spaces, subjects that evoke the atmosphere of Cyprus and the wider Mediterranean world.

His work is characterised by careful composition, refined draughtsmanship and a sensitive use of colour. Through intimate views of traditional architecture and everyday spaces, Palian creates images marked by stillness, nostalgia and poetic atmosphere. His architectural training is often evident in the structure of his compositions, while his painterly approach gives them warmth and emotional depth.

He was a co-founder and member of the artistic group “Polyergastiri” from 1979 to 1998, and has written texts on art and drawing techniques. His works have appeared in exhibitions, private collections and auctions in Cyprus and Greece.

Konstantinos Palian remains recognised as a contemporary Cypriot artist whose work combines architectural sensitivity, painterly refinement and a deep attachment to memory, place and tradition.
