Notes

Costas ANTONELLOS was born in Cephalonia in 1934.

He received his primary education at St. Eleftherios in Areos and his secondary education at Ambelokipi. His artistic training began under T. Drosos and C. Christides, two respected artists associated with the tradition of the Munich School. Through their teaching, Antonellos developed a strong foundation in drawing, composition and traditional painting technique.

Antonellos is a Greek-born painter whose work has become closely associated with Cyprus, where he established a strong presence. Working mainly in the traditional medium of brush and canvas, he remained committed to representational painting and to the careful observation of form, light and atmosphere.

His work often focuses on landscapes, coastal views, village scenes, figures and subjects connected with the Mediterranean environment. His paintings are characterised by clarity of composition, sensitive colour and a lyrical approach to place. Through his use of light and atmosphere, Antonellos creates works that reflect both the Greek and Cypriot landscape, while preserving a personal sense of warmth and nostalgia.

Costas Antonellos has exhibited his work in Cyprus and his paintings have appeared in galleries and private collections. He remains recognised as an artist whose work continues the tradition of figurative and landscape painting, marked by technical discipline, sensitivity to colour and a close connection with the Mediterranean world.
