Notes
Anna GRIGORA was born in Athens in 1959 and is originally from Andros.
She studied at the Athens School of Fine Arts, where she attended painting classes under Panagiotis Tetsis, mosaic under Giorgos Valavanidis, hagiography under Kyriakos Xynopoulos and history of art under Marina Lambraki-Plaka.
Grigora is a contemporary Greek painter whose work is closely connected with landscape, memory and the emotional experience of place. Her paintings often draw inspiration from nature, gardens, flowers, interiors and views that evoke the atmosphere of the Greek landscape. Through these subjects, she creates compositions that combine observation with imagination, offering images of warmth, lyricism and quiet poetic feeling.
Her work is characterised by rich colour, expressive brushwork and a strong decorative sense. Colour plays a central role in her painting, often becoming the main vehicle through which she conveys light, memory and emotion. Her compositions frequently balance realism with dreamlike atmosphere, transforming familiar subjects into intimate and evocative visual worlds.
Anna Grigora has presented numerous solo exhibitions in Greece and abroad and has participated in many group exhibitions in Greece and Europe. Her works are held in public and private collections, including the Vasilis and Elisa Goulandris Museum in Andros, the Historical Museum of Hydra, the Municipal Gallery of Karditsa and the Moschandreou Gallery in Messolonghi.
She lives and works in Athens and remains recognised as a contemporary Greek painter admired for the lyrical character, chromatic richness and poetic sensitivity of her work.
