Notes

Christos CHRISTOU was born in Paphos, Cyprus, in 1950.

He studied at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris during the 1970s, specialising in painting, fresco and lithography. After completing his studies, he settled in Paris, where he began his professional career as a painter, sculptor and lithographer in the 1980s.

Christou’s work is characterised by a strong personal symbolism, expressive colour and a poetic approach to form. His artistic practice moves between painting, sculpture and lithography, bringing together figurative elements, spiritual reflection and imaginative composition. His works often explore the inner world of the artist, giving visual form to thought, emotion and personal vision.

His paintings are marked by rich surfaces, carefully structured compositions and a distinctive sense of atmosphere. Through colour, texture and symbolic imagery, Christou creates works that move between the visible and the psychological, the material and the spiritual.

He has presented his work in solo exhibitions and has undertaken special commissions, while his paintings and works on paper have appeared in galleries, private collections and auctions in Cyprus and abroad.

Christos Christou remains recognised as a Cypriot artist whose work combines technical refinement, symbolic depth and a sustained engagement with painting, sculpture and printmaking.
