KOSTIS GEORGIOU

Kostis Georgiou (b. 1956, Thessaloniki) is a Greek contemporary painter and sculptor based in Athens. He studied scenography in Florence (1981–1982), then painting and sculpture at the Athens School of Fine Arts (1982–1986), and pursued further studies in London (1985–1986). Working across painting, sculpture, and large-scale public installations, Georgiou is known for expressive colour and vigorous, theatrical figuration that explores identity and the human condition. His work has been presented internationally, including major museum and outdoor contexts such as the Benaki Museum in Athens and monumental installations in Venice during the Biennale period.
