Notes
Thanasis LALAS was born in Athens.
He studied Economics at the Law School of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. Before turning fully towards visual art, he developed a distinguished career as a journalist, interviewer and publisher, working with major newspapers and magazines and conducting thousands of interviews with important personalities from the worlds of culture, politics, literature and public life.
Over the last decades, Lalas has devoted himself increasingly to painting and sculpture, developing a personal visual language that combines spontaneity, humour, imagination and symbolic expression. His artistic practice began through drawings in notebooks, diaries, tablecloths and everyday objects, gradually expanding into paintings, sculptural works and mixed-media compositions.
His work is characterised by vivid colour, energetic line, playful forms and a strong narrative quality. Through figures, signs, words and expressive shapes, Lalas creates a visual world that reflects memory, emotion, social observation and the continuous movement of thought. His compositions often appear instinctive and immediate, yet they reveal a distinctive personal rhythm and a rich imaginative universe.
Thanasis Lalas has presented his work in solo and group exhibitions in Greece and abroad. He lives and works between Athens, Paris and Miami, continuing to develop a multifaceted creative practice that bridges journalism, writing, painting, sculpture and contemporary visual expression.
