Notes

Painted in 2007, Figure Composition belongs to the artist’s mature period, when Paraskos had fully synthesised his distinctive visual language –an expressive fusion of Mediterranean colour, modernist structure and deeply rooted Cypriot narrative. His compositions from this period are marked by their confident spatial orchestration and emblematic figuration, where myth, memory and landscape coalesce within a richly chromatic framework. The work was exhibited in Paraskos’s significant 2009 solo exhibition Stass Paraskos: Tapestry at Gallery K, London, a major presentation of his late oeuvre. Its illustration in the June 2009 issue of London’s Galleries Magazine, one of the capital’s leading art publications, firmly situates the painting within a documented and critically recognised exhibition context.

Such recorded exhibition and publication history enhances the work’s art-historical grounding and market distinction. Works from this mature period are increasingly sought after, reflecting renewed institutional and collector interest in Paraskos’s contribution to post-war Mediterranean and British modernism.
