Notes
Spyros GEORGAS was born in Athens in 1958.
He studied painting at the Academies of Fine Arts in Florence and Bologna, having previously taken drawing lessons with G. Kouzounis. His artistic formation was shaped by his studies in Italy, as well as by his wider engagement with illustration, graphic design and visual communication.
Georgas is a contemporary Greek painter whose work combines figuration, colour and imaginative composition. During his professional career, he has also worked in the illustration of children’s books, the design of posters for theatrical performances, music festivals in America and advertising campaigns.
His painting is characterised by vivid colour, decorative strength and a poetic sense of narrative. His compositions often reveal an interest in travel, memory, fantasy and symbolic imagery, creating visual worlds that combine observation with imagination. His journey to Asia also influenced his work, enriching his visual language with new motifs, colours and atmospheres.
Through painting and illustration, Georgas has developed a personal style marked by lyricism, expressive design and sensitivity to storytelling. His works have appeared in exhibitions, galleries, private collections and auctions.
Spyros Georgas lives and works in Greece and remains recognised as a contemporary Greek artist whose work brings together painting, illustration and a richly imaginative approach to visual expression.
