NOTES
Nina Iacovou was born in 1933 in the area of Agios Nikolaos, Famagusta, She studied at the School of Fine Arts in Athens between 1953-54, under the professor of ceramics Giorgis Georgiou. Returning to Cyprus, she visited the Archaeological Museum of Famagusta where she studied the clay Cypriot antiquities and learned the technique of ancient Cypriot terracotta pots and sculptures from archaeologist Angeliki Pieridou.
With the Turkish invasion, she settles in Larnaca where her workshop operates.
Her work is influenced by ancient Cypriot ceramics, mainly by kukkoumara (clay pot to keep the water cool).
Γεννήθηκε στο Βαρώσι, στην περιοχή του Αγίου Νικολάου, το 1933. Φοίτησε στη Σχολή Καλών Τεχνών της Αθήνας μεταξύ 1953-54, κοντά στον καθηγητή κεραμικής Γιώργη Γεωργίου. Επιστρέφοντας στην Κύπρο ήρθε σε επαφή με την αρχαία κυπριακή πλαστική, στο Αρχαιολογικό Μουσείο του Βαρωσιού, και έμαθε την τεχνική της αρχαίας κυπριακής τερακότας και των γλυπτών από την αρχαιολόγο Αγγελική Πιερίδου.
Με την τουρκική εισβολή εγκαθίσταται στη Λάρνακα όπου λειτουργεί το εργαστήριο της. Το έργο της είναι επηρεασμένο από την αρχαία κυπριακή κεραμική κυρίως από την κουκκουμάρα.
