In his youth he worked in Greece, while from 1963 to 1974 he worked in Cyprus. He then went to America with his family in 1975. His works had won awards in exhibitions in Greece, Cyprus, Europe and America, while in addition to sculpture he also painted.
Garyfalakis moved to Cyprus in 1963, at the invitation of Makarios whom he met upon Makarios’ return from exile in the Seychelles. Whilst in Cyprus he created many busts and monuments of EOKA heroes.
