Gogi Chagelishvili was born in 1945 in Tbilisi, Georgia.
He graduated from the Tbilisi State Academy of Art where he studied from 1964 to 1971.
Chagelishvili during his long career has become one of the most recognised and respected Georgian artists who has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions in many countries amongst them Georgia, Azerbaijan, Russia, Turkey, Germany, France, Austria, Spain, New Zealand, Canada, and USA
