When this watercolour was taken out of its old frame to be re-framed, a folded newspaper the “Warrington Guardian” dated “Saturday September 16th 1939”, was found. The newspaper was used as padding between the watercolour and it’s backing board by the original framer. As such we can date this watercolour as having been created no later than 1939 and probably quite a few years before that. The old newspaper has been kept and has been attached to the back of the present frame.
