The present owner inherited the painting from his father. Christopher Maude-Roxby, who bought it in the early 1950s directly from the artist. Christopher made this acquisition during a visit to the artist’s Chelsea flat in London with his brother Roddy Maude-Roxby, who was a close friend and fellow artist of Savva at Heatherley School of Fine Art.
