Edward Bell was born in London.

He started as a freelance portrait and fashion photographer and illustrator for “Vogue” and other publications and he became a true “media darling” during the 1980s when he undertook various commissions for magazine, book and record covers.

In his sculptures he concentrates on the single figure trying to find poses suggestive of some energy or attitude. He seeks neither detail nor accuracy – but essence – to express the essential energy in pure form – divorced from the tell-tale nuances of fashion or trend – to purify the image to a timelessness.
