Andreas Savvides was born in Kyrenia in 1930. He graduated form the Pancyprian Gymnasium in 1948.
From 1948 to 1950 he studied at the Teachers Training College, Morphou.
He worked as a teacher for a short period of time and in 1955 he travelled to London, where he studied sculpture at Chelsea School of Art until 1958.
He returned to Cyprus, where he continued to work as a teacher in secondary schools, at the Pedagogical Academy, the Pedagogical Institute and as Inspector of Art.
From 1991 Andreas Savvides became a teacher at the Department of Education of the University of Cyprus.
